I'm a PWHL Minnesota superfan. My little Minnesotan hockey-loving heart has been bursting with joy this inaugural season, while my wallet has been bursting into tears as I shell out for season tickets and a jersey. Oops.
As I was sitting in the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul waiting for a February game to start, the Jumbotron displayed the league logo, which for the inaugural season is being used by all six as-of-yet unnamed teams in their respective colors. It's pretty simple--mirrored, geometric, made up of just a "W," two hockey sticks, and a blocky puck.

I nudged my dad and said, "I bet I could quilt that." So I did.
A month and a half later, I began taking my quilt with me to games. I highly recommend bringing a quilt with you to ice rinks a) for warmth, b) for starting conversations with fellow quilters and crafters who run up to chat with you, and c) getting on the Jumbotron.

Because no one else has bothered to make a PWHL quilt pattern (shocking), I had to create what would become the first design I drafted, wrote, and made.
The pattern I made has two options: Part 1 creates the league logo featured in the middle of my quilt, and Part 2 includes an option for how to complete the quilt by adding a stripe for each of the six inaugural teams--USA on the left (Boston, New York, Minnesota) and Canada on the right (Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal).
Oh what's this? Another picture with poor lighting to continue showing off my awesome work?
The hardest skill in this pattern is Half Rectangle Triangles--but don't worry! I've included plenty of instructions.
The PWHL quilt pattern was designed and written before I began making patterns more professionally, so it is very informal in language and may have plenty of typos and wasn't made to be visually appealing.
